Beddau RFC 2025/26

For everyone connected with Beddau RFC, the 2025/26 season will live long in the memory. It was a campaign filled with pride, passion, success, unforgettable moments, and proof that this famous Green and Gold club continues to grow both on and off the field.

From packed crowds at Mount Pleasant Park to silverware, unbeaten league campaigns, and age-grade international honours, this season was a reminder of exactly what makes Beddau RFC such a special club at the heart of Welsh community rugby.

First XV – A Remarkable Premiership Campaign

In what was the Club’s first ever season in the WRU Admiral Premiership, many outside the Club may simply have hoped Beddau would compete well and establish themselves at the level.

Instead, Beddau exceeded all expectations.

A magnificent second-place finish in the Premiership was an incredible achievement and one that very few could have imagined at the start of the season. Week after week, Lee Davies’ side proved they belonged amongst the very best community clubs in Wales, playing a brand of rugby full of ambition, resilience, physicality, and attacking quality.

The season itself was packed with memorable moments.

It all began with a nail-biting victory at Llangennech, a result which seemed to spark belief throughout the squad. From there, momentum continued to build and the confidence around Mount Pleasant Park grew with every passing week.

One of the standout moments of the season came in front of a packed Mount Pleasant Park when Beddau defeated Pontypridd in a game that showcased the very best of Welsh community rugby. The Boxing Day clash between the two clubs attracted a crowd of over 6,000 supporters and although Beddau narrowly lost that fixture, the occasion itself was a fantastic advert for the game and demonstrated the incredible support and passion surrounding the Club.

There were also superb performances against the famous Welsh All Blacks, Neath. Beddau completed a memorable league double over Neath during the campaign and although they were eventually edged out in the Welsh Cup on try count following a dramatic draw, the Green and Golds showed once again that they could compete with anybody.

Merthyr deservedly claimed the Premiership title, but Beddau pushed them hard throughout the season and earned enormous respect across Welsh rugby for the way they competed from start to finish.

To finish second in the Premiership in a debut season is an extraordinary achievement and one every player, coach, supporter, and volunteer should feel immensely proud of.

Athletic XV – League and Cup Double Winners

If the First XV campaign was remarkable, the achievements of the Athletic XV were equally special.

The Athletic side completed a stunning unbeaten season to win the WRU Division Six East Central title, playing some outstanding rugby throughout the year. Their consistency, attacking rugby, and determination made them one of the standout teams in Welsh grassroots rugby this season.

The success did not stop there.

The side then capped a fantastic year by lifting the Worthington Mid District Division Five Cup to complete a memorable league and cup double. Across the season there were some exceptional performances, memorable victories, and countless examples of the depth of talent currently within the Club.

The squad represented Beddau RFC with pride and togetherness throughout the campaign and fully deserved the success they achieved.

Colliers – Unbeaten League Champions

The success across the Club continued with the Colliers, who also completed an unbeaten league season by winning the Worthington Mid District Black League.

The team provided opportunities for many younger players throughout the season and represented the Club brilliantly with their commitment and performances.

Although they were ultimately defeated by Mountain Ash in the Ivor Williams Cup Final, the side can take enormous pride from their efforts throughout the year. The experience gained by many of those young players will undoubtedly benefit both the Colliers and the Club moving forward.

Youth Rugby – A Bright Future Ahead

The Youth section once again showed tremendous development throughout the season.

As the campaign progressed, the side continued to improve week by week and arguably produced some of their best rugby during the closing stages of the season. Their growth, commitment, and spirit have given the Club huge optimism for the future.

There is clearly plenty to look forward to from this talented group next season as they continue their development within the Green and Gold jersey.

Mini and Junior Section – The Heartbeat of the Club

The mini and junior section continues to be the heartbeat of Beddau RFC.

Year after year the section produces talented young players, but just as importantly it creates a fantastic environment for children to enjoy rugby, develop friendships, and become part of the Club’s family atmosphere.

The standard of talent on show throughout the age groups continues to impress and the future of the Club looks incredibly bright because of the work taking place across the mini and junior setup.

Welsh Age-Grade Honours

Another huge source of pride this season has been the success of several Beddau players at representative level.

Dylan Scott, Ioan Leyshon, Alex Ballinger,Sienna McCormack, and Livvy Kuropatwa all earned honours at Wales age-grade level during the season — a fantastic achievement both for the players themselves and for everyone involved in their development.

Their success is further evidence of the outstanding pathway and coaching environment being created at Beddau RFC.

Off the Field – Building for the Future

While the achievements on the pitch have been outstanding, the progress off the field has been equally impressive.

The development of the new Green and Gold Suite is something truly special and a major source of pride for everyone connected with the Club. The fact that so much of the work was completed by members of the Club themselves makes it even more meaningful.

It represents more than just a building — it represents the future of Beddau RFC.

Alongside this, the Club has continued to improve its facilities with new flooring, new chairs, and ongoing upgrades throughout the ground. Even more excitingly, there are already further plans in place as the Club continues to move forward.

The People Behind the Club

None of this success would be possible without the incredible people who continue to give their time, energy, and support to Beddau RFC.

From the committee, rugby group, bar staff, catering team, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, supporters, parents, and countless others behind the scenes — every single person has played their part in making this season so special.

The support shown throughout the year has been nothing short of incredible.

A Very Special Club

The 2025/26 season will go down as one of the finest in the proud history of Beddau RFC.

It was a season of success, growth, togetherness, and unforgettable memories. A season where the Club proved it belongs amongst the very best community rugby clubs in Wales.

Most importantly, it was a season that showed the strength of the Beddau family both on and off the field.

Beddau RFC is a very special club — and with the foundations now being built, there is every reason to believe the future can be even brighter.

The Green and Golds cannot wait for next season.
