
Beddau RFC brought the curtain down on a memorable 2025/26 season with its Annual Dinner and Presentation Evening at the Clubhouse on Saturday night.
Players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and supporters gathered to celebrate what has been one of the most successful seasons in the club’s recent history, with awards presented across the First XV, Athletic XV, Colliers and Youth sections.
The evening was expertly hosted by popular comedian Phil Howe, whose humour kept the audience entertained throughout, while guest speakers Bradley Davies and Lou Reed provided excellent insight and plenty of laughter with their stories from the game.
The night provided an opportunity to reflect on a season that saw the First XV enjoy a remarkable campaign in their first season in the WRU Premiership, while the Athletic and Colliers sides both enjoyed trophy-winning and unbeaten league successes.
First XV Awards
The major honours were shared by Sam Tiley, who capped another outstanding season by collecting the Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and the Alex Evans (Supporters Player of the year) awards.
Sam Bixby was recognised for his development throughout the campaign as he collected the Most Improved Player award.
Ollie Wilde’s consistency with the boot saw him finish as the club’s leading points scorer, while Ethan Coombes claimed the Top Try Scorer award after an impressive season in attack.

Athletic XV Awards
Following an unbeaten league campaign and Worthington Mid District Division Five Cup success, the Athletic XV awards reflected another exceptional season.
Efan Jones received the prestigious Tom Owen Award as Players’ Player of the Year, while Scott Bishop was named Player of the Year.
Owen Rix collected the Most Improved Player award, with Owain Cotter recognised as Top Points Scorer and captain Christian Bird named Top Try Scorer.

Colliers Awards
The Colliers also enjoyed a memorable campaign and several awards went to players who had been instrumental throughout the season.
Ethan Forkin completed a clean sweep of the major individual honours, winning both Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.
Rio Sparrow was named Most Improved Player, while Luke Davies finished the season as both Top Points Scorer and Top Try Scorer.

Youth Awards
The club’s thriving Youth section also recognised a number of standout performers.
Kellan Thomas was named Player of the Year, with Jac Jones receiving the Most Improved Player award.
Alfie John collected the Players’ Player of the Year accolade, while Ioan Leyshon and Samson Philpott finished as Top Points Scorer and Top Try Scorer respectively.

Club Awards
Two special awards rounded off the evening.
The prestigious Clubman of the Year Award was presented to Dale Benjamin in recognition of his outstanding commitment and service to Beddau RFC.
Meanwhile, the Lyn West Award was awarded to Daryll Smith for his significant contribution to the club both off the field.

As the celebrations continued long into the evening, the event served as a fitting conclusion to a season that has seen success throughout the club.
