Beddau RFC welcomed a full clubhouse as Head Coach Lee Davies, Club Treasurer Leon Prosser and Duane Goodfield hosted an open evening bringing together sponsors, supporters, members, volunteers and players from every senior and youth team.

The evening wasn’t simply a review of the season just gone and the season ahead —it was an opportunity to share a clear vision for where Beddau RFC is heading over the coming years and to ensure everyone connected with the club understands the journey ahead.

Lee Davies highlighted the remarkable progress made by the club in a short space of time. Going into last season, Beddau were 16/1 with the bookmakers to win the WRU Premiership, yet the Green & Golds exceeded all expectations by finishing as runners-up. Such has been the transformation under the current coaching team and playing group that the club has already seen its odds cut dramatically to 2/1 for the upcoming campaign, underlining the growing belief in what is being built at Mount Pleasant Park.

Looking ahead, Duane Goodfield announced further strengthening of the club’s youth coaching structure, with experienced coaches Rob Downes and Dai Bartlett joining the youth coaching group. Their appointments reinforce Beddau RFC’s commitment to developing home-grown talent and strengthening the pathway from junior and youth rugby into the senior game.

One of the key messages of the evening was the desire to operate as one senior rugby programme, with all senior players training together, sharing standards and creating a clear pathway between teams. The aim is to develop competition for places while ensuring every player has the opportunity to improve within the Beddau environment.

The club also unveiled the values that will underpin everything it does moving forward:

These values are intended to shape not only performances on the pitch, but the culture throughout the entire club.

Lee Davies challenged every player to “earn the badge”, representing Beddau with pride both on and off the field. He spoke passionately about building a group of brothers who support one another, creating an environment where standards are high, accountability is shared and everyone contributes towards the success of the club.

Away from rugby, Leon Prosser outlined an ambitious long-term vision for Beddau RFC. By 2030, the aim is to build an even stronger community-owned club that is financially resilient and sustainable for future generations.

That vision includes growing sponsorship, increasing membership, expanding the Rugby Supporters Club, improving food and beverage income and, perhaps most importantly, recruiting more volunteers.

A recurring theme throughout the evening was that volunteers remain the heartbeat of Beddau RFC. As the club continues to grow both on and off the field, more people becoming involved will be essential to supporting that success.

The meeting concluded with a message of togetherness. Success cannot be achieved by one team or one committee alone. Players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, supporters and members all have an important role to play in ensuring Beddau RFC continues its remarkable progress.

With a united coaching structure, a clear set of values and an ambitious long-term vision, the message from the evening was unmistakable—Beddau RFC is building not just successful teams, but a stronger rugby club for the whole community.
