Beddau have confirmed three of their four team selections ahead of another busy Saturday of rugby, with the 1st XV, Athletic XV and Youth XV all on the road this weekend.

All four senior and youth sides are scheduled to kick off at 2.30pm on Saturday 10th October, with the Colliers XV the only team enjoying home advantage.

The Colliers selection for their CCC League encounter with St Josephs at Mount Pleasant Park will be announced later today.

1st XV: Champions Merthyr await at The Wern

Merthyr v Beddau RFC
WRU Admiral Community Premiership
The Wern, Merthyr | Kick-off 2.30pm

Beddau face one of their toughest assignments of the season as they travel to The Wern to take on reigning champions Merthyr.

Following their impressive 47-12 victory over previously unbeaten Narberth in their last league outing, the Green and Golds will be looking to carry that momentum into another demanding Premiership encounter.

Head Coach Lee Davies has made five changes from the team that started in that win a fortnight ago. Up front Chris Phillips and Danny Perry return whilst behind the scrum Joey Williams, Ioan Leyshon and Ollie Wilde are all included.

There is plenty of experience among the replacements, including Cody Baker, Tyler Wells and Gwilym Powell.

Beddau Athletic return to league action with a trip to Trelai Park to face Caerau Ely.

The Athletic have enjoyed an encouraging start to the campaign, including an emphatic 78-0 victory over Old Penarthians in their previous league outing.

Having progressed through the opening round of the WRU Division Five Cup following Whitchurch’s withdrawal, the focus now returns to securing valuable league points.

Chris Bird captains the side from the wing, with Luke Jones and Charlie Rodrigues forming a new half-back partnership.

The pack includes Luke Bennett, Lewis David and Gerwyn Powell in the front row, while George Coombes, Greg Morgan and Noah Davey provide the back-row combination. It is pleasing for all to see the return of Dylan Williams on the bench after a long term injury.

The young Green and Golds have made an impressive start to the season, recording victories over Llantrisant, Taffs Well and local rivals Llantwit Fardre.

Their most recent success came in a hard-fought 17-14 derby victory over Llantwit Fardre, and they will be determined to build on that result this weekend.

Zak Blacker captains the side from the front row, alongside Morgan Jenkins and Celyn Liddon.
Evan Clark and Taylor Downes combine at half-back, while Rowan Cook and Ashton Peck form the centre partnership.
