Head Coach Lee Davies has named his 23-man squad for the fixture as the Green and Golds look to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing 40-0 defeat against reigning champions Merthyr at The Wern.

After a promising opening to the campaign, which included victories over Bedwas, Llangennech and Narberth, Beddau will be determined to rediscover their early-season form against a Bargoed side who have traditionally provided stern opposition.

There are several changes to the starting line-up, with Ben Stephens coming into the front row alongside Corrie Tarrant and Chris Phillips. Danny Perry continues in the second row alongside captain Lloyd Evans, who makes his 176th appearance for the club.

Morgan Burgess comes into the back row, where he joins Sam Gibson and Sam Tiley in what promises to be a competitive battle up front.

In the backs, Callaghan Smith switches to scrum-half, with Ollie Wilde taking the number ten jersey. Alex Hayman starts on the wing, while Ioan Leyshon continues in midfield and is joined by Kyan Lewis in what looks like an exciting combination for the Green and Golds.

Ewan Roberts takes his place on the opposite wing, while the experienced Cody Baker returns to the starting XV at full-back.

Among the replacements, Rhys Taylor, Jack Little and Efan Jones are included in the matchday squad. They are joined by Joe Page, Gwilym Powell, Lucca Alexander-White, Ellis Evans and Joey Williams.

Beddau Athletic return to league action this Saturday afternoon when they welcome Tondu Athletic to Yorkdale for another important encounter in WRU Division Five East Central.

The Green and Golds will be looking to build on last weekend’s excellent 22–14 away victory over Caerau Ely, a performance that demonstrated the determination and character within the Athletic squad.

Tries from Owain Cotter, Travis Warhurst and Harri Jones helped Beddau secure the victory, with Warhurst adding a conversion and Cotter contributing a penalty.

Attention now turns to the visit of unbeaten league leaders Tondu Athletic, with Beddau naming a strong and competitive matchday squad for the encounter.

Gerwyn Powell, Lewis David and Luke Jones form the front row, with Harri Jones and Cian Evans combining in the second row. Noah Davey and Scott Bishop occupy the flanker positions, with Dylan Williams completing the forward pack at number eight. Williams return from injury is a huge boost for the Club.

Charlie Rodrigues partners the returning Callum Wheeler at half-back, while captain Chris Bird leads the side from the wing.

Owain Cotter and James Davies form the midfield partnership, with Caelum Cox on the opposite wing and Alfie Egan completing the starting XV at full-back.

The replacements provide further options, with Trav Green, Jace Jones, Owain Nash, Jack Williams and Sam Wilson all named among the matchday squad.

With competition for places continuing across the club, Saturday provides another opportunity for the Athletic side to maintain their momentum and continue their positive start to the campaign.

Beddau Under 17s are back in action this Saturday as they travel to Llanishen for an away friendly, with a 24-player squad named for the encounter at Llanishen 3G.

The young Green and Golds will be looking to continue their development as they face another competitive challenge on the road, with kick-off scheduled for 2.30pm.

Jacob Broadley has been named captain for the fixture and will lead a 13-strong group of forwards, while 11 backs complete the travelling squad.

The fixture provides another valuable opportunity for the squad to gain match experience, build combinations and continue progressing through the club’s youth development pathway.

With a strong blend of players throughout the squad, the coaching team will be looking for another committed performance against their Cardiff-based opponents.
