First XV look to bounce back against Bargoed
Beddau v Bargoed
Admiral Community Premiership
Mount Pleasant Park | Kick-off 2.30pm
After a difficult afternoon at The Wern last weekend, Beddau’s First XV will be determined to return to winning ways when Bargoed visit Mount Pleasant Park.
Lee Davies’ side suffered a 40–0 defeat against reigning champions Merthyr, despite enjoying the better of the opening quarter. The hosts eventually demonstrated their quality with an impressive performance that left Beddau with plenty to reflect upon.
The result followed an excellent 47–12 home victory over previously unbeaten Narberth, and the Green and Golds will be hoping to rediscover the attacking confidence and determination that helped them make such an encouraging start to the campaign.
Saturday’s visitors Bargoed are familiar opponents, with the two clubs having enjoyed numerous memorable battles over the years. There will also be some familiar faces among the visiting party, with former Beddau coach Matthew Rees now part of the Bargoed coaching team alongside head coach Aled James and director of rugby Jeremy Rogers.
The visitors have enjoyed a great start to the season with four wins from their opening four games against Ystrad Rhondda, Llanelli Wanderers, Bonymaen and Cross Keys which has seen them shoot up to third in the Premiership table.
For Beddau, the focus will be on producing a positive response in front of their home supporters and securing another important league victory.
Athletic XV aim to maintain winning form
Beddau Athletic v Tondu Athletic
WRU Division Five East Central
Yorkdale | Kick-off 2.30pm
The Athletic XV return to league action full of confidence following their excellent 22–14 away victory over Caerau Ely last Saturday.
Tries from Owain Cotter, Travis Warhurst and Harri Jones, together with two conversions from Warhurst and a penalty from Cotter, secured another encouraging result for the side.
The Athletic have enjoyed some impressive performances during the opening weeks of the season, including their emphatic 78–0 victory over Old Penarthians, and will have to show more of that form if they are going to lower the colours of Tondu this weekend.
The visitors also have a 100% record this season and sit top of Division Five East Central after three bonus points wins against Old Penarthians, Llandaff North and Brackla.
Colliers face Mountain Ash challenge
Mountain Ash Athletic v Beddau Colliers
CCC League
Parc Dyffryn Pennar | Kick-off 2.30pm
Beddau Colliers continue their CCC League campaign with an away fixture against Mountain Ash Athletic at Parc Dyffryn Pennar.
The Colliers have made a promising start to the competition, recording victories over Llandaff, Abercynon, Aberdare and Llantrisant during the opening weeks.
Those four wins have taken the green and golds to the top of the CCC league a position where they will be hoping to stay.
Saturday’s trip though presents another big test against familiar Mid District opposition, with the Old Firm always a formidable outfit on their own patch.
The hosts have started their campaign with a big win over Llandaff and a tight loss against Nelson last weekend.
Young Green and Golds travel to Llanishen
Llanishen v Beddau Under 17s
Friendly
Llanishen 3G | Kick-off 2.30pm
Beddau’s talented young squad travel to Llanishen for a friendly fixture as the coaching team look to give game time to their large squad.
The under 17s recently visited Canton and put on an encouraging display and will be hoping to do the same this weekend as they continue their development.
